The Dawson Prize
Neither The Northern Miner nor EarthLabs or the Sponsors of the Great Canadian Treasure Hunt have knowledge of the specific hiding places of any prizes. The individual who claimed the Dawson Prize did not disclose the precise location, which we respect as part of the mystery of the hunt.
How was it verified?
All prizes are verified through the official claim process. In this case, the winner submitted both a photo and the correct claim code through the claim form, which our team confirmed shortly before announcing the result. Our goal is to issue a press release and announce winners within 24–48 hours of successful submission and verification.
Have any of the other treasures been found?
No. To date, only Dawson has been successfully claimed and verified. We have not received any other verified claims through the Treasure Claim form.
Does the Grand Prize poem contain information about the Bonus Prizes?
The Grand Prize treasure poem and the Bonus Prize clues are separate. Each Bonus Prize has its own dedicated set of clues. Any further interpretation is part of the challenge and the fun of the hunt.
Is there a set schedule for releasing Bonus Prize clues?
Clues are released monthly, although exact dates may vary. Subscribers will continue to receive these clues in advance of the general public.
Where do I begin?
Start with the poem. Every line holds meaning. Follow the clues as they come. Trust your gut—but question everything.
What if no one ever finds it?
Then it stays hidden. Days, months, years—it won’t move.
The box waits for the right hands.
Will there be more clues over time?
Yes.
- New clues will be released monthly for at least the first 12 months
- Every clue is free and published on The Northern Miner, Mining.com, CEO.ca or our social accounts.
- Want all the clues early, in one spot? Subscribe HERE for exclusive first access and a collated clue list.
Is the treasure location accessible?
Yes. All treasure locations are accessible to the public without special gear or training. You won’t need to dig or trespass. This is a hunt, not a heist.
Does anyone know where the treasures are hidden?
Only one person knows the location of the grand prize.
The 12 smaller treasures? Each placed with the same level of secrecy. No one on the organizing team has access. Period.
**Please note that no employee of Earthlabs, its subsidiaries, or our sponsors has knowledge of the Treasure’s location.**
Where can I find the clues?
- Every clue is free and published on The Northern Miner, Mining.com, CEO.ca or our social accounts.
- Want all the clues early, in one spot? Subscribe HERE for exclusive first access and a collated clue list.
Do I need to pay to join the hunt?
No. The hunt is open to everyone. But subscribers get a head start.
Do I need treasure-hunting experience?
Not at all. Sharp thinking, perseverance, and maybe a good pair of boots will serve you better.
Will the poem be available in French?
Oui. The master poem is available in both English and French.
I noticed a mistake in the clues—was that on purpose?
Probably not. Typos aren’t clues… or are they?
How is the hunt kept fair?
- No one involved with organizing or sponsoring the hunt can participate.
- Only one person knows the prize locations.
- The boxes are secure, legal to access, and placed in publicly accessible areas.
- No one’s getting insider info. Everyone’s on equal ground.
Any tips for new hunters?
Take nothing at face value. Think laterally.
And if you think you’re close—you probably are.
How do I prove I found a treasure?
Each box contains a unique code.
Fill in this form to claim your prize.
If it checks out—you win. No back-and-forth.
What does the 30-day claim window mean?
You have 30 days from the moment you find the code to claim your prize. After that, it’s void. Time is part of the challenge.
Can I stay anonymous?
No. All agree to light publicity—photo, interview, your name in the Hall of Fame.
You found real treasure. Time to own it.
How will the public know it’s been found?
We’ll announce it—loudly, proudly, and with proof.
I’m outside of Canada—can I still participate?
No. The Great Canadian Treasure Hunt is open only to residents of Canada. You must be physically located in Canada at the time of participation and prize redemption.
